To eliminate cursed energy. It'd rob us of our powers, but it would get rid of cursed spirits too.

Does cursed energy provide any benefits? Is it something that's always existed in your world?

Not that I'm aware of. Cursed spirits are only common in Japan, anyway... Or so we're told.

What would have made it only happen where you are? Negative emotions are prevalent everywhere.

Well, cursed spirits don't only exist in Japan, it's just where they're most common. We lose thousands of people to curses a year.

And I'm not sure why... They don't teach us that as much as how to kill them. [ low-key bitter ] I don't think anyone is really thinking about how to treat the problem of curses in the long-term, so no one really investigates these things.

If you don't treat the source, isn't what you're doing in killing the curses putting a bandage over the open wound you have?

I understand that there is no end to negative emotions, but... it sounds like there could be a better way.

Exactly. She had to be sacrificed because we needed a new vessel for one of our most powerful sorcerers, in order to maintain a baseline defense against curses.

Sorcerers die fighting curses all the time, and even with all our efforts, so many non-sorcerers die every year.

There are humans who don't produce any cursed energy so... I don't know why getting rid of it would cause any damage.

... In that hypothetical, then, yes, I would make that wish. If fewer people are sacrificed, if fewer people are killed, if you could still live even without your powers, I would do it.
