Things are chaotic where I'm from, too. There's still a lot we don't understand. But that's why it's important to try and find out.

People just... Have all different kinds of abilities. Sometimes they make sense, and sometimes they don't make any sense. But they're life threatening either way.

Yeah, basically. Don't get me wrong, a lot of it makes sense.

... But there's some things that really don't.

For example... there's one teleportation technique that you master by understanding physics.

There's another that you master by clapping.

Why would anyone learn the first one instead of the second?

You don't have a choice. Your technique is specific to you, like how you can't choose your genetics.

So some people just get lucky. Like being born rich.

Pretty much. No matter how hard you train, you'll probably never surpass someone born with a stronger technique.

... Really? That's too bad.

But you still have to do whatever you can with what you've got.

People do come up with really creative uses for their techniques, so there's definitely still value in hard work. Besides, it doesn't matter if you're stronger than other sorcerers, as long as you're stronger than the curses.
