I thought it might be code for names. MOUTHS for Mathis, ARMS for Anis, ROCKS for Rondo, and LEGS for Lavi. The first letters and the number of letters match up.

It did seem like they can't sign their real names, but... If that were the case, wouldn't they leave more to the message than just the code for a name?
